Real crew. Real work.

The same crew. Every job. Every day.

We don't sub out plaster work to whoever's available that week. Sol Pacific runs an in-house, full-time crew, the same applicators on every job, day in, day out. That's why our plaster lasts 20+ years while industry average is 10–15.

Every team member wears a Sol Pacific shirt. Every truck is ours. Every coat of plaster has the same hand behind it. That's the difference between us and the "cheapest quote" option.

How we work

Drain to first swim in 10–14 days.

Most San Diego pool plasterers take 3–4 weeks. We do it in half that because our crews are full-time and the prep work, the part most contractors rush — happens in parallel with material sourcing.

1

Free on-site consultation

Day 1

We visit your San Diego property, inspect the pool shell, measure, do a tap test for hollow spots, and discuss finish options. Written quote inside 24 hours.

2

Drain, sandblast, prep

Day 2–5

We drain the pool, sandblast existing plaster down to gunite, patch any structural cracks, and apply a bond coat. This is the step most contractors rush. We don't.

3

Plaster application

Day 6

Single-day application by a master plasterer. Mix is hand-troweled wet-on-wet. Tile and coping masked with kraft paper. Expansion joints sealed.

4

Fill, brush, balance

Day 7–10

Fill begins immediately. Twice-daily brushing during cure. Water chemistry balanced on day 1 of fill and again at day 7. This keeps the new plaster from etching.

5

Walkthrough + warranty

Day 10–14

Final inspection together. Care instructions handed off, 30-day brushing schedule, and your written warranty. Swimming-ready typically inside 14 days.

Know when it's time

8 signs your pool needs replastering.

If you're seeing any of these on your San Diego pool, it's time for a free on-site assessment. Waiting only makes the repair more expensive.

  • Rough or gritty texture underfoot when walking in the pool
  • Visible cracks, chips, or flaking plaster
  • Stubborn stains that won't respond to cleaning or acid wash
  • Discoloration or mottling (uneven color patches)
  • Exposed aggregate or rebar showing through the surface
  • Pool losing water faster than normal evaporation
  • Plaster 10+ years old (standard white) or 15+ years (quartz/pebble)
  • Surface feels slippery or has algae that keeps returning

Common questions

Pool plastering FAQ.

The clearest signs are a surface that feels rough or sharp underfoot, plaster that's flaking, chipping, or dissolving into your water, staining that doesn't respond to chemical treatment, and a grey or brown discoloration across the shell. If your pool is 10-15 years old and showing any of these symptoms, it's time to have it assessed. In San Diego's climate, pools are used year-round and exposed to constant chemical demands, which means surfaces wear faster than in cooler markets.
